"It's not the clams that are pad" make me think of a clam bra. Now I have a whole line of seafood lingerie lingering in my imagination. And a name - Seafood Support.

The Hard:

Facing the fact that if I don't tell the shoe-throwers no, I'm just as culpable as they are:

The Good:

Making a big long-term decision and knowing that I will implement it shortly. Ahhh... the relief.

@Andi & @Riin Thanks. I'll check out the baby gates. Cleo's a jumper, so I'll look for a high one. One time I was holding her and she got to my shoulder and jumped 10 feet across the room. aye yi yi.

Re: mattresses - gotta have one that at minimum does no harm. I've even heard that a bad mattresses can negatively effect our health...

@Jane I second the recommendation for the baby gate. There are some that don't have gaps at all -- they're just sliding clear solid plastic panels that slide past each other to adjust to the right size.

Also, my bunny vet uses the metal table, but they put down a towel on it so it's warmer and less slippery.

I was so intrigued by the word "knish" that I googled it and then after reading about it, decided it sounded so delicious that I had to find a gluten free knish recipe. I did, and so now... I shall have to make one. Yum. Or 6.

late on the Chick'm.
but yo know how it is. after all, light is a fig of wisteria.

It's Saturday morning and I'm waking up in a haunted cottage on Lake Huron. More on that in a minute...

The Hard:

- another rejection letter (grant application)

- shocked to hear that a great local musician I know passed away. very sad.

- girlfriend is under pressure with deadlines, so the energy around the house is in temporary unbalance

-played a gig in Bayfield last night, and the promoters put us up in a little cottage on the lake. A lovely 70's cottage with the scariest paintings of little demonic black-eyed children above the beds. And since one of my bandmates is a ghost magnet, we all got freaked out and had to pull all the mattresses out of the rooms to sleep together on the floor of the main room. But then it was still too scary to sleep, so we were up until 6 am trying to talk about mundane things to take our minds off the ghosts. (this entry is kind of in between The Hard and The Good, since I did laugh my ass off)

The Good:

- made a ton of progress on a couple important projects

- spontaneously transformed the main floor of the house, solving about 5 different functionality and spacing issues

- did a whole bunch of planning with Ali about upcoming stuff (like vacations!)

- started watching Battlestar Gallactica...and LOVING it.

I wish I could put "ate a knish" on my Good list, but no luck this week. I did make some Borscht though (for the first time! Didn't turn out too bad)

'til next week
Happy Weekend

@Darcy, the bed violation is the worst. Given the caliber of mattress, about on par with someone you hate borrowing your finest thong for 2 days. Shiver.

Exhausting trip + packed week + jet lag + birthday eve = tearful existential crisis in a department store's basement shoe section.

Unbelievably thoughtful birthday presents. I'm so grateful for my friends.

Wishing everyone comfy sleeps.

Thank you for the big dose of sympathy, Havi. Reciprocal belated sympathy to *you* for your similar incident. Good gravy, what is with people?! And to have been alone somewhere remote when it happened, that is even worse. Hug back. And hooray about getting the bed. Sleeping in our good new bed cleared up chronic hip pain I'd had when we still had our old crummy bed. Hooray for good beds!
