Hi Havi and Selma,

Glad to learn you are doing so well.
In addition to your tips on how to grow business the fun way, I guess this blog is a great resource for my local info. I've been so buried in starting my business that I haven't even been to Washington side since I moved to this area a year ago.

What kind of duck food does Selma like?

PS. Has anyone ever told you how utterly fabulous your site design is? And your product pages? I went to http://www.dissolveprocrastination.com/ and couldn't stop marvelling at the images and layout. It's likely the best I've seen!

And look at that sweet tiny happy face at the bottom of this page, after your phone number. In light of the whole, every detail counts.

(My slogan as a copyeditor!) :)

Havi,

I can hear that wild happiness in you, how totally blessed you feel, even or especially while you grieve your friend. It's so touching and wonderful and inspiring.

Two things happened to me this week that made me feel that way. The week was hard and stressful and gave me a stomach ache. But then I got to start loading text onto my new site, which I'm really excited about, and I received your very awesome, genuine, appreciative email.

It made me tell people about it, and you. Not that that's what you were going for, but that I always have to share what makes me excited. I'm glad you're you.

Thank you.

Havi,

It makes me so happy to read that the goodness and glorrrrious-ness you bestow upon others is duly reciprocated!

Mulling over the simple guidance you offered me this week has really contributed to the solidly positive past couple days I've had. Here's to wonderfully bizarre exchanges!

Two options for your next rock concert experience (in about 10 years, sounds like)...
1. Foam earplugs. Easy to put in, cut the sound WAY down, but look a little dorky (especially the neon green ones) sticking out a bit;
2. One square of single-ply toilet paper folded about 5 times. Free, easily available even at the venue, can shape to fit your own ear canal, and only cuts about about half the volume, which allows you to still make out the melody without experiencing the pain (been there, done that - not good).

Recommended: The upcoming Randy Newman concert in Portland on October 23rd at the Aladdin. Won't be nearly as noisy, but Newman has a sharp eye for human foibles (like Cave) but can also be funny as heck.

Man, I'll be the only kid at the mantra concert with ear plugs, but it will be totally worth it!

For loud venues I like Etymotic ear plugs ($12).

Unlike regular foam earplugs they don't distort and muffle speech and music. Even LA hipster kids are wearing earplugs to shows now.

In a pinch, I've been known to stuff TP or bar napkins in my ears. Lucky my ears are gigantic so I can get away with it.

I happened to (weirdly) be at the giant Heart/Journy/Cheap Trick concert last weekend (friend of a friend won 12 free tickets). I made myself makeshift earplugs from tearing strips of paper from a napkin and rolling it up really tightly. It worked pretty well.
