In which I cover the good stuff and the hard stuff in my week, trying for the non-preachy, non-annoying side of ritual and self-reflection. And you get to join in if you feel like it. Hey, Friday. Good to see you. I’m getting better at remembering how this works. Slowly, slowly. Friday is picking up [...]
Heeeey, February! I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited to see you, February. Partly because this past January kicked my ass so hard that I’m excited about change in any form whatsoever. And partly because you are a symbol of incredibly special things that are happening in my life. But anyway, I’m really glad [...]
I do a lot of entry and exit. Setting things up.
Also preparing for the voyage. Or preparing in general. And then doing a little Revue (with high kicks!) when it’s over, because I don’t like to review things but I like taking stock.
Sometimes I’m convinced there’s no time to enter and exit experiences.
But that’s pretty much always the time gremlins talking.
So we do the short version. And sometimes even the shortest version.
The Playground calendar is here.
I actually cried when I saw the first one.
Tears of happy-delight and oh-the-cuteness, but also because it is the most beautiful, simple, glowing, play-filled physical thing that I have created.
The thing with projects is that they often like to talk.
When you’re willing to show up and buy them a beer.
And by project, I mean that mysterious thing that is anything at all that you’re working on or playing with. Anything you care about.
It could be the next chapter in your novel. It could also be remembering to put on lip balm. It could be making a change in your business. It could be having a happier relationship with getting up in the morning. It doesn’t matter. A thing that you are in relationship with. That’s your project.
Anyway, I’m a big fan of interviewing projects to see what they know.
And today I’m collecting interview questions.
One of the things we do at Rally (Rally!) is make up a ridiculous and unlikely cover story for why we’re here. My story for this week of the Great Ducking Out turned out to be that… get this, I have an obsession with monkeys! Specifically monkeys who wear clothing. And that’s why I’m at [...]
Hello, door.
This is me and this is the door.
Me and my relationship to the door. Me and my relationship with myself as I am going through doors.
Me and the person I am becoming as a result of having experienced this particular passage through this particular door.
All of it.
Like how all the stupidest and most regrettable things I have ever done (see: sneaking into self-forgiveness) all end up being related to how ridiculously little sleep I was running on at the time.
And how most of the people I know, most of the time, are in a state of nearly permanent depletion. Including me, of course.
In fact, most people I know are so used to running on empty that it isn’t even that noticeable.
You only recognize it when you’ve gone beyond depletion. Past whatever reserves were left. When it’s the full-on falling-apart everything-must-crash time.
This week, thanks to the insane Shiva Nata we did all week at Rally (Rally!) and at the Shivanautical Academy Training the week before, I have more ideas and wishes than I know what to do with.
And they’re all equally beautiful and exciting.
So. I’m going to choose a few for this week and assume fractal flowers.*
Personal ads. They’re … personal! Very. Each week I write these VPAs to practice asking for what I want. And to get clarity on what that really is, even when asking feels conflicted. I always get useful information about my relationship with various aspects of the ask. Join in if you like! Thing 1: a [...]
