Havi’s workshops in Berlin, Germany

The plan. Aside from mad yoga brain training.

Oh, let’s see, Dance of Shiva workshops and general Havi wackiness. These are all live programs in Berlin throughout September and October, 2009.

Details below and a handy FAQ at the bottom of the page for anything we didn’t cover.

Workshops at Home Yoga Studio

Home Yoga is a gorgeous studio in Mitte with a view that is out of control. I’ve taught there before and absolutely love the space. Tom and Isabel are the loveliest people in the world and it’s just a nice place to be.

Dance and Paint Workshops at Spolz (artist studios)

Spolz is an artist studio and gallery space with the most amazing energy ever.

These workshops are all about accessing creative flow and destuckifying old blocks. It’s a blend of wacky brain re-structuring with Shiva Nata plus some really fun/cool free-form art stuff.

You don’t at all need to be an artist or even art-ey (I’m not at all and I had a blast with these last year), though there will be a number of artists there too.

And I will be co-teaching these with my dear friend Andreas Suhr who teaches design at the Design Akademie Berlin and is also a long-time Shivanaut. We’ll probably do some … uh, unusual meditation-ey stuff too, but no worries, nothing scary!

Expect to move, expect to paint, expect to surprise yourself. A lot. That’s all I’ll say for now!

Workshop FAQ!

“I’m coming from ___________ and I don’t speak German.”
No worries. I happen to speak English! Yay. And I will explain all the important stuff in English, I promise.

Also, when you’re laughing I’ll know it’s because you’re confused and not because you’re making fun of my accent, so that will be awesome.

“I am completely uncoordinated, just so you know.”
You don’t need to be at all coordinated. It’s actually better if you’re not! Everyone will be lost and confused, I promise.

“I have no Dance of Shiva experience.”
None required. Like I said, everyone will be lost and confused. It’ll be cool.

“I’ve been a Shivanaut forever – what if I get bored?”
Hahahahahahaha. Did you forget the part about everyone being lost and confused? Because you will be too. Also I will. Also, I will help you make the practice really hard.

It will be fun! I mean, it will be challenging and weird. But we’ll enjoy it even though we shouldn’t. Or something. I’m going to stop answering this question now.

“What do I weeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaar?”
Oh, I have trouble with this too. Something comfortable. Something you can move in and maybe sweat in a little.

If you’re coming to the workshops at Spolz, be prepared to accidentally get paint or pastel chalk all over yourself. Maybe that’s only me.

I’ll be wearing either a. very loose dress over pants or b. my Shiva Me Timbers pirate shirt and a skirt. I will be holding a duck. You will not look sillier than me, even if you try.
